Profile editing in Scholars@Duke will be temporarily unavailable from June 11-24, 2026 while manual profile data entry transitions to Elements.

Expanding Scholars@Duke Integration with Duke Elements

Since its launch in 2013, Scholars@Duke has evolved alongside Duke’s research community, growing from a faculty research discovery tool into a robust ecosystem supporting a wide range of scholarly profiles, data, and activities. Each phase of development has been guided by ongoing engagement with faculty and staff, ensuring the platform continues to reflect how scholarship is created, shared, and maintained at Duke.

We are excited to announce our next major upgrade to the Scholars@Duke ecosystem, launching in June 2026. This update simplifies how scholarly data is managed by fully integrating profile management into Duke Elements. By consolidating systems, this enhancement improves data accuracy and gives profile owners the ability to store a wider range of data all in one place, while also granting increased privacy and control.

What is Different?

  • Profile Manager no longer supports data entry.
All data management has been migrated from Profile Manager to Duke Elements. The data entry sections in Profile Manager have been replaced with guidance directing you to Elements. Users may already be familiar with claiming publications in Elements; now it is the single system for maintaining all Scholars@Duke profile data.
  • Updated navigation on Scholars@Duke profiles.
The subheadings in the left‑hand navigation menu of your Scholars@Duke profile have been reorganized to align with the data sections in Elements, improving consistency across systems.
  •  Intuitive data organization.
Some data sections have been consolidated or have slightly different field names. These updates are intentional, informed by faculty feedback, and designed to save time and take the guesswork out of data entry.
  • Enhanced privacy controls.
New privacy settings allow you to hide individual items or entire sections from your public Scholars@Duke profile, giving you more control over what is displayed.

How will this IMPACT my Scholars@Duke Profile?

This update primarily affects where your profile data is managed, not how your public profile appears. Your Scholars@Duke profile will remain largely the same for viewers, aside from minor changes to section labels in the left‑hand navigation menu.

  • Your profile will still be accessed the same way as before
  • Existing data will remain intact—no information will be lost
  • Updates and corrections to your profile data should now be made in Elements going forward
  • Changes in Elements will sync with your public Scholars@Duke profile approximately every 10 minutes

What's Next?

  • A new profile portal is coming later this year.
Profile Manager will be retired and replaced with a streamlined profile portal that serves as a central launchpad to tools and resources designed to support profile owners.
  • Expanded Elements functionality.
Upcoming enhancements to Elements will include new reporting tools and additional data feeds, further supporting research visibility and data quality.
