Open Issues

September 30, 2024

  • Issue: Profile photo upload error
  • Status: Open
  • Problem Description:  Some users are encountering errors when trying to upload a new profile photo. In some cases, the error is caused by profile photos exceeding the 4MB file size limit. Please try re-sizing large photos before uploading to Scholars. If you still experience errors or your photo does not appear on your profile as expected, please contact Scholars@Duke support.

September 20, 2024

  • Issue: Scholars not responding (413 error)
  • Status: Open / fix in progress
  • Problem Description:  Some users are reporting that the Scholars@Duke website appears to be down or unresponsive. In some cases, users may see a 413 error. This error occurs when the browser accumulates too many cookies. Users can delete browser cookies and clear the browser cache to resolve the problem. We are actively investigating the root cause of the issue and have a fix in place to mitigate the problem.

SEPTEMBER 1, 2024

  • Issue: Figures, tables, data, and other supplementary materials appearing in Publication lists
  • Status: Open
  • Problem Description:  Faculty and staff who publish in American Association for Cancer Research journals may see supplementary materials appearing alongside articles in their publication lists in Scholars and Elements. Supplementary materials may include figures, tables, and other data submitted alongside the article and deposited by the journal publisher in Figshare. The Figshare repository is minting unique DOIs for these items and Elements is harvesting citations for those DOIs. We are actively working with Symplectic and with data providers to understand and address the issue. In the meantime, if faculty and staff wish to hide these supplementary items from their profile, they can mark them as "private" in Elements.

 


Resolved Issues

august 1, 2024

  • Issue: Bug with un-hiding course data
  • Status: Resolved
  • Problem Description:  Courses that are hidden and then un-hidden could take up to a week to reappear on the public profile. Other hides are working as expected. However, note that it might take up to 24 hours for the data to be hidden/unhidden from the public profile.
  • Resolution: Course hide/unhide actions should take effect immediately. 

May 6, 2024

  • Issue: Fellowships, Gifts, and Supported Research section not sorting properly
  • Status: Resolved - August 2024
  • Problem Description:  Entries in the Fellowships, Gifts, and Supported Research section of the profile are not sorting in chronological order. 
  • Resolution: Items in the Fellowships, Gifts, and Supported Research profile section are now properly sorted in chronological order.

May 2, 2024

  • Issue: CV exports using SOM APT CV Template may contain duplicate publication entries
  • Status: Resolved - August 2024
  • Problem Description:  Profile owners who export CVs using the SOM APT CV Template may see some duplicate publication entries in the exported CV. The duplicates will not appear on the public profile, only in the exported CV. 
  • Resolution: Duplicate publications issue on SOM APT CV Template exports has been corrected.

 

October 6, 2023

  • Issue: Some email and phone numbers marked as private appearing on Scholars 3.0 profiles
  • Status: Resolved
  • Problem Description: We have identified a bug where some email and phone numbers marked as private are still hidden in profile manager and the outgoing widget data feed, but are appearing in GraphQL and the new Scholars 3.0 profiles. Our analysts and development team are currently investigating the issue and an update is forthcoming once the appropriate resolution is identified.
  • Resolution: Issues where data marked as private was still displaying on profiles has been corrected. The email address field is now being displayed again in the contact card at the top of the profile. Phone numbers are still not visible in the interim.

August 30, 2023

  • Issue: Widgets feeds not updating for some profiles (leads to outdated information displaying on downstream websites)
  • Status: Resolved
  • Problem Description: In some cases, Widgets feeds are showing stale data (e.g. old position titles). In most cases, profile owners, delegates, or Power Users can use the "Force Widgets Index" button in Profile Manager to trigger a manual update to the widgets data. We are working to resolve this issue.

July 12, 2023

  • Issue: Data imported into Scholars from other systems is taking longer than normal to load
  • Status: Resolved
  • Problem Description: Changes made in dFac and SAP typically take 24-48 hours to load into Scholars@Duke. However, in the past week we are seeing much longer load times. This delay impacts both faculty data and organization data.

  • Issue: Some hidden sections are still appearing on user profiles
  • Status: Resolved
  • Problem Description: We have identified a bug where some sections of the profile that have been hidden by the user (i.e., Education) are still appearing on their profile even though they show as hidden in profile manager.
